Recently, Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma publicly expressed his support for Postecoglou through emotional private messages. However, Redknapp was not a fan of such public displays after the event, suggesting that it is typical of footballers to express their opinions in this way.
Speaking at a Soccer Aid training session, Redknapp was critical of the messages, saying, "That's football, that's what footballers do. Oh we love the previous manager well why didn't you try a bit harder you might not have finished fourth from bottom." He went on to explain, "It's the same old message. The king is dead, long live the king. That's football." Redknapp also pointed out that players often praise their managers when they are doing well and then again when they leave, but this does not necessarily reflect their true feelings.
With Thomas Frank now in charge, the Tottenham squad will have to adjust to a new playing style and system. The team may also be welcoming new player Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. It remains to be seen whether the squad will fully support Frank, but it is likely that they will eventually express their opinions about him just like they did with Postecoglou.
