Mathys Tel, a 20-year-old player, spent the second half of last season on loan in London, contributing to Tottenham's victory in the Europa League final. The team secured their first trophy in 17 years with a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
According to the loan contract, Tottenham had an option to buy Tel. However, they were able to negotiate a lower fee, £30 million, in addition to the £8.5 million loan fee.
This deal will be the first signing under Thomas Frank, who took over as the new manager after Ange Postecoglou's departure.
