As Robertson's current contract expires next summer, he will be 32 years old, which could be his final few years at the club. In a recent interview, Robertson acknowledged that he is replaceable and that discussions about a new contract are underway.
"We have discussed it, of course we have," Robertson said. "The club has had good discussions with me, but what the future holds is uncertain. I'm focused on taking a well-deserved break after a long season and then preparing for pre-season."
When asked directly about Kerkez, who is 21 years old and a potential replacement for Robertson, he admitted that he wants the club to strive for a better squad by signing younger, quality players.
"The club has identified areas where they want to bring in new talent, and it seems like they're looking for exciting young players. When you play for a big club like Liverpool, you expect competition and challenges," Robertson said.
"I want the club to be ambitious, and they're doing that. Wherever we fit into that, if we're happy with our role, we'll stay and do our job. If not, there may be changes, but that's the nature of football, and we'll keep moving forward."
Robertson is looking forward to spending time with his family and then focusing on his fitness and preparation for the upcoming season.
