Madueke returned to England from the Club World Cup to complete the transfer after making 5 appearances with Chelsea. The team went on to win the tournament, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final. Cucurella was surprised by Madueke's decision to leave while Chelsea was on the verge of winning the title.
Cucurella recently spoke about Madueke's decision, saying: "Yes, I think so. I think he missed a good opportunity, although he wasn't playing as a starter. I do think it was because of everything that was happening regarding his future, and in the end, I think it could have delayed him a couple of days."
Madueke leaves Chelsea after three seasons, during which he scored 20 goals in 92 appearances. He joins a list of major signings at Arsenal, including Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who have all joined under manager Mikel Arteta.
