Before joining St. Pauli, Hountondji played for Burnley in the English Premier League. He made 10 appearances for the team last season.
Earlier this year, Hountondji joined Standard Liege on loan for the second half of the season. He had previously played for Caen in France, signing a €4m deal with Burnley in 2024.
Despite being on loan, Hountondji still has a contract with Burnley that runs until 2028. He is 22 years old.
