Rusk reckons his team deserved every bit of the point they earned, and was particularly impressed by their refusal to give up in the face of adversity. "I was disappointed we didn't take the lead at halftime," he admitted, "but the players showed real character in the second half. They didn't let their heads drop, and that's what it's all about."
The caretaker manager was also thrilled to see his team connect with the fans in the aftermath of the game. "It's about creating moments, and that's exactly what we did," he said. "The players are feeling good about themselves, and we're giving the fans something to cheer about. That's what it's all about."
Rusk was also full of praise for Lesley Ugochukwu, who scored his first goal for the Saints in the dying embers of the game. "Lesley's made huge progress this season," Rusk said. "I'm told his finish was top-notch, and I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself. He's a talented young player, and I'm really pleased for him."
For Rusk, the draw was a vital step in the right direction for a team that's been through a tough season. "It's about building momentum, and getting that feel-good factor back at the club," he said. "We're not getting carried away, but it's a lovely moment, and one that we can build on."
