PSG dominated the match, thrashing Real 4-0 and setting up a final with Chelsea. The European champions were 3-0 ahead before halftime, thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz and Ousmane Dembele, with Goncalo Ramos adding a late fourth in the second half.
Courtois admitted that Real failed to execute their coach's plan, which involved looking for space up front. Instead, they struggled to maintain their positions and were caught out by PSG's quick attacks.
"They always start very strong and put a lot of pressure on us," Courtois said. "We failed to follow the coach's plan and found it difficult to hold our positions. They created a lot of danger, especially in the first half."
Despite the tough defeat, Courtois remained optimistic, saying that it was an opportunity for Real to learn and improve. "It's a tough defeat, but a defeat to learn from," he said. "We're on the right path and sometimes a setback like this is good for us to keep improving."
Courtois also acknowledged that Real need to work on their game, particularly in terms of keeping up with teams like PSG who have won the Champions League. "We have to reach their level," he said. "We have to work on next season."
When asked about the game plan, Courtois suggested that it would be beneficial to analyze the defeat through video analysis. "From my point of view, we were a bit off the pace," he said. "The moment you are late, everybody is out of position."
"At speed, they beat us because they go forward and we have to turn and lose time," Courtois added. "We were not very close to them and that was the problem. When you're spread out on the pitch and with so much space, against a good team like them, it's difficult."
