Ancelotti denied intentionally committing fraud, stating that he was unaware that collecting some of his salary as image rights would result in lower tax payments. The court found him guilty of an offence against the treasury and imposed a fine of 386,361 euros.
However, since the sentence is less than two years and Ancelotti has no prior criminal record, he will not have to serve his prison term. The court also cleared him of the fraud allegation for the 2015 tax year.
Ancelotti has had a successful career as a football manager, leading teams such as Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain. He currently coaches the Brazilian national team and does not reside in Spain.
The court's decision marks the end of the highly publicised trial, which began in April.
