The new agreement will see Garcia's contract lengthened from five to six years, benefiting both Barcelona and the player. For Barcelona, this means better amortization and salary increases. For Garcia, it translates to improved terms under the initial agreement.
As part of the deal, Barcelona will pay the €25m buyout clause in Garcia's current Espanyol contract.
With this agreement, Garcia is set to become Barcelona's first signing of the summer transfer market.
